How do I vote using a mail-in ballot?

  • Ballots were mailed to voters in the first week of October.

  • If you have not received a mail-in ballot by this time, you must go vote in person on Election Day.

  • You can mail in your ballot any time, as long as it’s postmarked by election day (Tuesday, Nov. 3) and received no more than seven days later. At this point, to be safe, we recommend dropping off the ballot in person.

  • In Nevada, the postage is prepaid, so you don’t have to worry about stamps.

  • You MUST sign your ballot. The signature must match what’s on file from your registration.

  • You must use the official return envelope. You can only mail one ballot per envelope, or none of them will be counted.

Where can I drop off a ballot?

  • At the registrar’s office (1001 E 9th St # A135, Reno, NV 89512). Open Monday, November 2, from 8AM to 5PM.

  • On election day (Nov. 3), to the registrar’s office or a polling place, from 7AM to 7PM. See a list of locations here.

  • After mailing/delivering your ballot, check that your ballot has been received here.

How do I vote in-person?

  • If you have received your mail-in ballot, you should bring it with you to surrender.

  • There will be social distancing protocols in place. Please make sure you have a face mask.

  • As long as you are in line by the cutoff time (7PM), you will be allowed to vote. Stay in line!

  • Early Voting is now complete. You must vote on Election Day.

Election Day:

  • Tuesday, November 3, 7AM to 7PM.

  • You can go to any of the Washoe County locations (unlike in “normal” years, where you have to go to your assigned polling place). See a list here.

More information about voting:

  • Starting this year, you can register to vote in person during early voting or on election day at any of the polling places. Although they are not required, it will help to bring a valid Nevada ID or official mail showing your current Nevada address.

  • Starting this year, anyone who has been convicted of a felony is automatically eligible to vote upon release from incarceration.

  • The Nevada Secretary of State put out a “facts vs. myths” document you can check out here.

  • Mail-in ballots will continue to be counted until November 10, as long as they were postmarked by November 3.

  • If there are issues with the signature on a mail-in ballot, you will be notified and can “cure” the issue until November 12.

  • We will not have official election results until November 12.
